So this blog is a first! It is our first piece about a bakery. Which is super odd because I am OBSESSED with baked goods. Baked goods are in the top five things I love most in my life (that list also includes Scruffy… and Ian, of course!). Few things bring me pure joy like a good, fresh bakery item. Black Market Bakery in North Park has it all. Pastries, sandwiches, desserts, coffee, and breads. These are a few of my favorite things… you know how the song goes! Also, the layout of the place is adorable. Oh yeah, did I mention they have beer and wine?!
We have been there so many times that I am embarrassed of myself for not writing a blog on it yet. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME (another GOT reference for you people in the back). Ok, I’ll be honest, I have been here a few more times than Ian. Just a few- because I am a sucker for carbs. Anywho, I have tried countless items from this bakery. Several of their items have absolutely blown me away. I don’t even know where to start… but I will give it my best shot!
Let’s do the easy part first. The sandwiches! We mainly go for breakfast sandwiches, but they are my favorite in the area! I love the Fresh Prince- eggs, avocado, roma tomatoes, and red pepper mayo on toasted sourdough. Typically, I will add cheese! Ian has gotten the Farmhouse (eggs, bacon, ham, and cheddar on a brioche bun) and the Bandera (eggs, chorizo, cotija, green chiles, and pickled red onions on a brioche bun). He has thoroughly enjoyed them both! The brioche is the kicker! For lunch, I really adore the Dill With It. Turkey, avocado, dill cream cheese, cucumbers, and tomatoes on sourdough. The dill cream cheese is what makes it so unbelievably. Creamy, tangy, and packed full of flavor. I can’t wait to try more items on the menu, including the Uber PBJ!
I don’t want to overwhelm you with the multitude of delectable details about all the baked treats I have indulged in, so instead I am going to hit the highlights. I think my favorite thing I’ve tried is the homemade mixed berry Pop-tart. The berry filling was tart and smooth. The frosting was sweet and sugary. The pastry perfectly flaky and buttery. Ten out of ten, baby. Ian and I also enjoyed the jalapeno popper croissant (filled with jalapeno, bacon, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese). Absolutely drool-worthy. The everything croissant stuffed with cream cheese and topped with everything seasoning was next level mind-blowing as well. I desperately want to try the shortbread cookies- my favorite! (Yes I am an old lady- whatever)
Seeing as I have to stop myself from going to Black Market Bakery, maybe y’all can go and try some of the multitudes of baked goods and report back to me! OR, I will just have to try them all myself!
Another place to try!
